DragonCon 2005

DragonCon 2005.  Atlanta Georgia.  The Hilton, Marriot Marquis and Hyatt hotels.  Liquor flowing like water.  Nearly naked chicks.  Stormtroopers everywhere you turn.  Less than 6 hours sleep the entire weekend.  Lots of TV stars and genre authors.  Gigi Edgley, Raelee Hill and Virginia Hey.  Drinking, dancing and did I mention the nearly naked chicks?

Those are the highlights of what I remember from my first DragonCon.  I'd give you a day by day breakdown like most other cons but to be honest its really a blur.  Saturday I remember the long line at registration.  Breakfast with Leo, Alissa, Buck and Jennie.  The Farscape table (which appears in my memories a few times).  Saying hi to Jean and the girls.  A Serenity panel, the girls Farscape panel and lots of really great costumes.  Dinner at the Hard Rock.  Then the drinking began and the haze fell over me.  There was dancing, laughing and at one point I was on the floor.

Sunday's not much better.  There was lunch with Leo, Alissa, Lisa and then Buck, Jennie, Patti and Kink (I think).  Walked the dealer room.  Saw the girls again (minus Jean for some reason)  More of the Farscape table.  Then the liquor flowed again and the familiar haze got thicker.  There was kissing involving a Scarren.  The Farscape party room.  Assless chaps (or was that Saturday night?)  Watching the costumes in the Hyatt lobby.  Rocky Horror and more nearly naked chicks.  And Sunday ran right smack into Monday as I got on a train and headed to the airport for the trip home.

Here are the pictures I managed to take during the 20 minutes of sober time during the weekend.  Enjoy!

Breakfast with Leo, Alissa, Buck and Jennie at the bakery across the street from one of the hotels.  This was Saturday morning and one of the last things I remember clearly.

Everybody at the girls panel on Saturday.  Saturday was Mambo shirt day, in case you couldn't tell.  I think we got more looks and double takes as we all walked around together than most of the costumes.  It was rather humorous.  "What's with the shirts?" was heard more times than I can count.

And here we are waiting in the many blocks long line to get into the "Serenity" panel Saturday afternoon.  The line started in one of the back hallways inside the convention area and stretched outside, around the building and down the block.
