Alexander McCullen

I had originally planned for this figure to be Destro, however with the announcement of Hasbro putting out a Destro figure I had to rethink this one.  So still needing more bad guys I decided to make this one Destro's son, Alexander.

Base Figure: Heavy Duty with minor modifications
Paint: Krylon Fusion burgundy satin, gold, chrome silver, flat black
Accessories: 1/6 scale machine gun modified

After Hasbro announced that they were releasing a Destro figure I had to rethink the custom I had already started.  It didn't take long for me to come up with the idea for making Alexander.  The Heavy Duty figure was a perfect base for the african-american son of Destro.  With some minor modifications to the body, including removing and filling in the Sigma suit port holes and sculpting a gauntlet on the right arm to match the left.  Next came painting.  This is the first figure I tried spray painting with Krylon Fusion satin burgundy paint.  It came out a lot better than I had imagined although masking the arms and head was a pain.  I added flat black as a body stocking under the burgundy armor, gold for the accents and black for the boots.  A black Iron Grenadiers emblem sticker on the chest and some chrome silver for the head and he was all ready to go.

Accessories were a problem and I'm really not happy with what he's got but it will do for now.  The stockless machine gun I think adds to the power and strength of the character.  If he can handle an M60 without a stock, one handed he's gotta be a badass, right?

The illegitimate son of James McCullen, aka Destro, Alexander McCullen grew up without his father in his life.  He knew his lineage and spent his early life working to perfect his body in hopes that when he eventually found his father he might earn his love and respect.  Once he was old enough, Alexander began traveling the world, working as a cage fighter.  His physical strength and skill in the cage earned him a reputation in the underworld.  At age 22, after 6 years of fighting, he was approached by a London crimelord who saw Alexander's potential.  Taking him in, he paid for Alexander to attend the best business college in Europe and the young Destro excelled at both his studies and as a member of the rugby team.  He graduated with honors and took a place in the crimelords operations, learning all of the ins and outs of the black market.  Alexander discovered his father's whereabouts and learned that the elder Destro was one of the world's leading weapons manufacturers.  With this knowledge in hand, Alexander began branching out on his own, starting a weapons smuggling operation without the crimelord's approval or knowledge.  When the crimelord discovered what Alexander had been doing it was too late as Alexander had become a successful arms dealer with many powerful allies.  When he was confronted by the crimelord, Alexander quickly killed the older man and took over his operation.

Meanwhile the elder Destro had learned of this newcomer to the arms trade and had his Iron Grenadiers investigate with the plan to either fold the new operation into his own or eliminate them.  This was the opportunity that Alexander had been working for his entire life.  He agreed to the "merger" on the condition that he have a personal one on one meeting with his new "boss".  Destro agreed and Alexander revealed his identity to his father.  Impressed with his son's achievements, Destro welcomed Alexander into his business and family.  In order to learn all facets of M.A.R.S. operations, Alexander joined the Iron Grenadiers as a new recruit, with none of his training officers or fellow soldiers aware of his identity.  He quickly moved up through the ranks and eventually was promoted to General in charge of all Iron Grenadier operations.  When he had proven himself to the troops and his father once again, he revealed his identity to his soldiers.  Alexander wears a version of the Destro family mask, similar in design to his father's but in a darker color to better help his soldiers identify him.  Alexander doesn't agree with his father's affiliation with Cobra but he does see the benefits and as long as Cobra Commander continues to pay, Alexander and the Iron Grenadiers will be available for whatever is needed.
