With a Destro figure coming out and my Alexander McCullen custom I needed a trooper for them to lead.  With some thought I came up with a look for a Sigma 6 Iron Grenadier that I really like.

Paint: Krylon Fusion satin black, flat red, gold
Accessories: Cobra Commander helmet (modified), 1/6 scale MP5

Needing a trooper to go with the Destro figure and my custom Alexander McCullen, the Iron Grenadier was a perfect candidate.  The original version 1 IG figure was one of my favorites and I used that as the inspiration for this figure.  Taking the base Cobra Commander figure, I added the chest armor from the Ninja Armor Snake-Eyes figure to give the body a different look from the base figure.  I modified the CC helmet with the mask from Sea Ops Duke and a little Sculpey to fill in the gaps.  I spray painted the body and helmet with Krylon Fusion satin black which came out really well.  Using the Snake-Eyes head worked really well to give the trooper a generic look with the helmet off yet still have some character.  I added in the gold and red accents, gave him a 1/6 scale MP5 and he's all set to defend M.A.R.S.

Iron Grenadiers are handpicked by Destro from his own personal security force.  Experts in all weapons manufactured by M.A.R.S., Iron Grenadiers also show proficiency and excel in marketing and sales as well as infiltration and sabotage.  They serve as Destro's frontline troops engaging in acts of subversion and manipulation to destabilize countries that are already on the brink of war.  These acts of sedition lead to new customers for M.A.R.S. and the Iron Grenadiers involved receive a percentage of the gross sales.  As such, these troops are the most ruthless and cut-throat enemy you will ever encounter and will do whatever it takes to increase their own cut of the deal, even if that means eliminating a fellow Grenadier.

It is not known how many of these troops are out in the world as they work undercover most of the time and only sport their armor when absolutely necessary.  They are believed to work in groups of 3 or 4 and answer directly to Alexander McCullen, Destro's son and general of the Iron Grenadier army.  There have been more and more sightings of Iron Grenadiers as they are often called upon to supplement the troops of M.A.R.S. biggest customer, Cobra.  In these situations the Grenadiers often serve as consultants and trainers, instructing Cobra troops in the use and maintenance of weapons and equipment but sometimes find themselves in the thick of a fight where their military training comes into play.
