Sigma 6 Flint

Flint is a figure I never had as a kid and honestly I didn't really miss him (I had Falcon to fill my beret wearing slot on my Joe team)  But I thought that he was one character that would fit well in the Sigma 6 universe.  So after getting another Duke figure, this one came together really well.

UPDATED 10/6/06: See below!

FLINT

Base Figure: Duke w/ modified head
Accessories: Jungle Snake-Eyes pants / Snake-Eyes v1 web harness with custom shotgun shells / 1/6 scale shotgun

Having found another Duke figure I decided to put together a character I never had as a kid: Flint.  After looking over some pictures of the various Flint figures I sculpted the beret since that would be the only modification to the figure.  It took me a little over an hour to get the beret the way I  wanted it to look and to be honest it wasn't until I got some paint on it that it really looked good to me.  The other part that really sets apart Flint from other figures are the molded shotgun shells on his webgear.  So I superglued some Qtip sticks together, cut them to length, glued them on the Snake-Eyes webgear and painted them.

I went with a red beret because I felt a brown or black one would blend in with the rest of the figure too much.  In all of Flints filecards it lists him as being Airborne qualified and the color for the Airborne beret is maroon so I figured red would be okay based on the characters background.

UPDATE 10/6/06: I updated Flint here with Jungle Snake-Eyes pants that I cut the loops off the legs.  He's also had that shotgun for a while but I just never got around to reshooting the pics.  I changed up his paint accent color a bit too, not so much you'd notice though.

Code Name: Flint
Real Name: Faireborn, Dashiell R.
Warrant Officer / Sigma 6 XO

Primary Military Specialty: Infantry
Secondary Military Specialty: Helicopter Pilot

Flint was a brilliant student in college and graduated with honors at the top of his class with a degree in English literature.  Upon graduation he was offered teaching positions at many of the top universities in the world but he had become bored with scholarly pursuits and enlisted in the Army.  After basic training he was accepted into Airborne school and quickly worked his way through Special Forces training and Ranger school.  It was in Ranger school where he met a brash recruit named Conrad Hauser (aka Duke).  The two were paired together and at first glance appeared to be complete opposites when in fact they were more like two sides of the same coin.  Duke was rough and clashed with his superiors where Flint was likeable and followed orders without question.  The two men worked well together, each complimenting the others strengths and weaknesses.  After completing Ranger school both men were offered the chance to continue their training in Officers Candidate School but Duke decided to remain with his fellow "grunts" while Flint went on to Flight Warrant Officers school.

After Warrant Officers school, Flint was involved in several missions around the world, using his tactical knowledge and fighting skills to protect U.S. interests.  He also planned and led several dangerous rescue missions going after soldiers the upper brass had written off as expendable.  It is this loyalty to his fellow soldiers that has earned Flint the trust of everyone he serves with.  They know that no matter how bad the situation, Flint will do everything in his power to bring them out alive.

When Duke was assembling the Sigma 6 team, he called on Flint to be his Executive Officer and second in command.  As part of the Sigma 6 leadership, Flint assists Duke in planning missions.  Though technically he outranks Duke, Flint has accepted him as the CO of this team and follows Duke's orders without question.  Although he may not always agree with Duke's decisions, Flint feels that once an order is given it should be carried out.  Flint serves as the team's lead tactician and coordinates missions from the pilot seat of the Night Attack Chopper.
