I never had Dusty when I was a kid.  My desert trooper was Spearhead and his cat Max.  So when the Desert Long Range came out I knew he would be for me.

I wanted to do a Spearhead custom for a while.  It wasn't until I saw the 1/6 cheetah on a webstore that I got the vision.  With a little modifying to the head (removing the ponytail and sculpting over the hole) and some paint I had my favorite desert soldier.  The cheetah just took a nice coat of paint to make it look like a mountain lion (its all in the bio).  Some proper accessories and they were all set.

Spearhead was a great insurance salesman before joining the military.  Often ranked among the top 10 in the country, he had a very lucrative career ahead of him.  Its not known why he left sales and enlisted and all he says on the matter is "it needed to be done."  Regardless of his reasons, his performance in the field as well as his likeability are what earned him a spot on the Sigma 6 team.  The fact that he can talk anyone into just about anything serves him well both in the field where men will follow him without question and in the recruitment office where he signs up enthusiastic young men and women for the military.  After the death of his longtime pet and companion, the bobcat Max, Spearhead went on a weeklong hiking trip in the mountains.  There he came upon an abandoned cougar cub who was fighting off a pack of wolves in an old bear den.  Rescuing the cub and naming him Bear, the cougar has quickly found a place alongside Spearhead in battle, often encouraging less than willing troops into action as well as guarding prisoners.
